Identify the source of a control problem
A blank display, inaccurate reading, or short cycling can originate in the thermostat, its power or wiring, or the equipment it controls. Diagnosis should compare the displayed temperature and call behavior with system operation rather than assuming the thermostat is at fault. Internal electrical connections should be assessed by qualified service personnel. Recording when the problem occurs can help distinguish an intermittent control issue from a separate equipment fault.
